Erin Hartley

As a designer, I have found that my creative styles certainly conform to that of ‘Form Follows Function’. My passion has always been to create beautiful pieces that aid the user in whatever use they were designed for, however my time at Nottingham Trent has enabled me to celebrate design in all its forms. I have learned to embrace designs that have been created purely for the aesthetic, that have been created for the user to want, not to need. I understand that design, whether purely functional or aesthetic, should be created to enhance everyday life, and that is what I try to achieve with my designs.

Wona, a stunning desk lamp that creates a harmonious marriage between Glacier White Corian and copper. The lampshade allows a wide projection of light onto the user’s desk, while reflecting off the copper. A set back lamp arm enables the user to place belongings on the base to de-clutter their desk.

Stylish and functional, Levende is designed for longevity, with a sturdy Ash frame, and removable cushions that allow the foam to be replaced over the years, upholstered in a timeless grey. The shelf provides extra storage, and the Pantone Greenery cushion adds a pop of colour and keeps the chair on trend.
