I am a creative, energetic individual who strives for originality in design. I am also a good communicator who is able to interact well with people from all backgrounds. This enables me to construct thought-provoking but fun products that meet the needs of everyday problems. My greatest satisfaction comes from knowing my products have made someone smile.
Escape Pod
Changing social norms around adults using what was once considered children's toys is an important focus for this project. The contrast of colours inside the Escape Pod help provide permission to the adult to forget the stress of the everyday life and relax in the activity of play to unwind and destress.
Using playful curves and splashes of colour to invite joy and happiness to the user, while they sit or kneel at the pod. Keeping it portable while creating additional workspaces are elements which are important to keeping actives tidy and not interfere with living spaces.
Visual references include a solid Oak exterior complimented by brass accents. Contrast to the interior which is crafted from plywood boxes, painted bright and uplifting colours to welcome users.
The Luminary Lamp
The bold, curved design of the floor lamp was inspired by Isamu Noguchi. His mid-centre modern design style and Japanese influence is something that I have used to drive my own designs. As seen in the three imposing dark wood legs, providing the solidity and security to the space. This holds up the delicate handmade rice paper shade that disperses warm golden glow around the room providing the relaxing environment.
The lamp is made from a combination of materials that work together to create a striking piece of design that stands out. From the satin painted finish on the tripod base, to the brushed aluminium on the lamps stem that holds the handmade rice paper lamp shade. The rice paper is delicate and can tear easily but once the light is turned on creates an enveloping glow.
