BA Furniture & Product Design
I approach my work as a designer with a practical mindset, constantly looking for new methods to innovate and create designs that are motivated by the world around. I am passionate about finding new ways to incorporate natural materials and sustainable processes into my work, while also prioritizing functionality and usability.
Boomerang Floor Light
The Boomerang Floor Light was created through an emotional connection exploration process. It is a functional floor light that can vary the intensity, pattern, or direction of the light.
In order to establish a connection between the consumer and the light, beyond it simply serving as background furniture, I investigated the moving elements and designed a light that has a shade that is customisable in a variety of ways.
For this project, I wanted to delve into moving parts and further explore the link with honest materials in order to generate a connection with the light. This was accomplished with a range of different timbers and their finishes which allow for a more personalised light when both on and off.
Desk Pets
With growing hybrid office spaces, there is a loss of personalisation, leading to a less belonging workspace.
Desk Pets - How It Works
Walk into work and collect a Desk Pet. You will then choose which animal you would like to make, ranging from a fox, a squirrel or a rabbit. With Desk Pets you are able to mix up the animals, stacking bodies or swapping the heads.
In addition to bringing a personalisation factor to the office without being too childish, Desk Pets will also show that an area in the hotdesking is claimed.
The Desk Pets shown are woodland-themed, further development could enable you to choose a different themed animal or a group of a specific species, such as a family of foxes, or polar animals.
