BA Furniture & Product Design
I am a practical designer with an ambition to design for a better world. Design has always been a passion and having a chance to study furniture and product design has allowed me to push myself to become a better designer.
Capsule
Capsule is inspired by the term 'capsule wardrobe'.
Due to the rise in fast fashion, over consumption has become a big problem within society and we are becoming unaware of how many clothes we are putting into to landfill each day. Capsule aims to tackle this issue by restricting the user to a set amount of space to store their clothes, in which they can only fit their daily essentials and favourite pieces, leaving no room for clutter or unnecessary items.
Aimed at users aged 20-35, Capsule will encourage sustainable habits which will be carried throughout their life, promoting a positive shift from cheap fast fashion and pushing towards keeping and caring for good quality pieces for the rest of their lives.
Nonna
The Nonna collection is designed to allow the user to have one vase but the option of three different heights. The vases were carefully considered allowing them to be stacked into each other to raise the height of the vase or stacked underneath when they are not being used.
Nonna is inspired by my relationship with my Nanna. Ever since I was younger, I have had a strong relationship with her and would often take her flowers for various occasions. As I've become older, I began to buy flowers for her when I visit as a way to show my appreciation for her or as a way to remind her of me when I'm away.
The problem I found is that I was constantly making the flowers fit the vases rather than the vase fit the flowers, therefore this inspired me to create a vase that could cater for all types of flowers, eliminating the problem of never being able to find the right vase.
