Radii
Radii is an Oak table that consists of a bespoke 3D ceramic tile centrepiece. All of the tiles are 3D printed with clay, some with an extruded pattern. These patterns are made up of triangle ridges to show off the natural finish of the 3D clay printing.
These bespoke tiles can be adjusted by using the existing CAD files and printed however the consumer desires. The clay can also be adjusted to the customers chosen colour and finish.
The tiles currently displayed are fired until vitrified to keep the natural look and feel of the clay, to contrast the natural material against the ridges created from the printing.
The combination of natural materials and modern technology was interesting to explore, particularly as 3D clay printing is still an emerging technology. This table was designed through the exploration of the printing process which was completely new to me.
ReVolVe
Revolve is a collection of three spinning vessels that can be used as decorative or functional items within the home or office space, aiming to promote a positive emotion when interacting with them. Including motion allows the user to create a connection with a Revolve vessel. This connection then encourages the user to value and keep these objects for an extended time.
Revolve can be used in two positions, one where the vessel spins, and the other stagnant, leaving it open for interpretation of how it is used within a space. The playful oak vessels are completely hand turned from wood, combining traditional craft values with timeless design.
