BA Furniture & Product Design
I design using logic and gut feelings, growing my design organically from start to finish. I'm a strong believer that function is form, this is why I'd much rather spend my time in nature than the city. I believe you should make a product to last a life time.
One Year's Waste
One Years Waste is a chair that weights 98.66kg. This is one person's yearly plastic waste within the UK. I was inspired to create this design when I saw a pile of fly tipped rubbish on the side of the road and realised we have no real comprehension of how much waste we produce since it's disposed of on our behalf every week. With some research, I found out that each person in the UK produces an average of 98.66kg of plastic waste per year. This information is daunting since we only recycle 12% of our waste. With this project I wanted to create a way for people to interact with their waste, to see what it looks like and to feel how heavy it is to highlight magnitude of this issue.
Gwennol
Using the concept of weaving stories, this lamp was designed to facilitate inter-generational conversations using its re-weavable shade. Its body and arms are made from ash and the shades material is from Melin Tregwynt Wool Mills in Wales. It can be used as a stand-alone piece, or the corner stone in a room decorated with products from the range.
