BA Furniture & Product Design
A passion for circularity and sustainability within design guides my style and interest in exploring materials. I want to show people the beauty I see in imperfection and make them fall in love with the stories that it can tell.
Altered
The fashion industry is the world's second largest polluter and is estimated to produce 92 million tonnes of waste each year. Much of this waste is perfectly usable but is seen as outdated due to the seasonal views of fast fashion.
Altered is an exploration into one of these streams of waste, one which is accessible globally by anyone. It aims to show how this material can be easily transformed into an object of beauty that can fit into any environment and bring value to a previously worthless material.
The pieces are designed to be simple to show off the fabric in its different forms, textures and colours. The techniques used in making and assembling these cushions are chosen for their simplicity so that they can be replicated by anyone, anywhere and allow the maker to help tackle their local waste streams.
Bio-Graphy
With the emergence of apps like TikTok, training our brains to focus on short length videos, our attention spans have dropped. We have moved away from the past time of reading and instead focus on to the realms of instant gratification. The Bio-Graphy book stand is designed to help users find time to slow down and enjoy the tales a book will tell.
Made with a singular material and a minimalistic design, Bio-Graphy fits in with any environment whilst the lightweight frame keeps your focus firmly on the beauty of the book.
