BA Product Design

I believe that design can be a force for good in the world. That's what motivates me to designiproducts that enhance the lives of the people using them. I enjoy working with both physical and UI/UX design as the physical and digital worlds converge.

New Robin Hood Network

The New Robin Hood Network is intended to give confidence in the public transport system. Currently, transport in Nottingham is fragmented between multiple companies, and this has a detrimental effect on peoples' perceptions of the reliability of the system.

By integrating all services across buses and light rail under one brand and harmonising the way information is presented, people are given more confidence that there is a single consistent network that they can rely on.This is further enhanced by improved on-street presence, with transport stops representing the quality of the services available. This presence also acts as a way to attract people to using public transport, presenting it as a quality alternative to car use, as well as improving the experience of waiting by more conveniently locating live information.

Cykle Lamp

The Cykle Lamp gives the user flexibility to adjust the lighting in their home to reflect their needs. As we do more at home from limited space, lighting can be a new way of defining the use and purpose of our spaces. For instance, a space used for working from home might also be used for a hobby or craft. Turning the dial transitions the illumination from focussed task lighting to ambient uplighting, allowing the user to move between work and rest. The physical motion of turning the dial acts as a prompt to the user to change their headspace and gives a satisfying direct control of the lighting angle. The form and motion of this adjustment come from extensive modelling and testing to achieve the most pleasing control motion. The concrete base is intended to give weight and solidity to the lamp, giving the user confidence in its solidity as they manipulate the lighting angle.
