The "plastic crisis" refers to the environmental impact and health problems caused by the increasing production and use of plastic products, with safe disposal becoming a major global concern. This has caused a serious accumulation of single-use plastic bottles in the ecosystems of the world. While legislation around plastic bottles is a step in the right direction, recycling alone is not enough. PolyFusion aims to keep plastic bottles out of landfills through outdoor benches with a focus on repairability and longevity while incorporating various circular design aspects such as repairable and replaceable standardised parts. This is also combined with efforts to further change legislation to make large companies take responsibility for their plastic waste and help shift society towards a more sustainable and circular future by reducing our reliance on plastic and using it more sustainably.
