SIPPO

SIPPO is a self-directed design project that addresses the emotional disconnect experienced by young Hongkongers who have migrated abroad, particularly in the wake of the BNO visa scheme. As many build new lives overseas, everyday cultural rituals - like cooking with family - are often lost, weakening ties across generations.
SIPPO is a smart kitchen companion designed to rebuild those bonds through food. It allows elderly family members at home to record recipes in their own voice and cooking style, capturing gestures, sounds, and stories. These recordings are then transformed into interactive cooking guides and printed recipe cards that younger users abroad can follow - preserving tradition in a tangible, emotional format.
The product includes gesture controls, voice-to-text transcription, AI-assisted memory capture, and a built-in thermal printer for keepsake recipe cards. Unlike general-purpose devices, SIPPO is built specifically for intergenerational use, cultural sensitivity, and hands-free cooking environments.
This project blends emotional design with functional technology to support connection, memory, and identity - turning cooking into a shared experience, even across continents.
Half The Story Multi- Function Pop Up House

The Half the Story Pop-Up House is a thoughtfully designed, versatile structure created for Half the Story, a social enterprise dedicated to empowering homeless individuals through employment. Inspired by the organisation's logo and mission, this house-shaped installation symbolises stability, growth, and fresh beginnings. Designed for portability and adaptability, it serves as both a pop-up retail space and an in-store point of sale, seamlessly integrating into various environments.
Its innovative design features interchangeable doors that transform into display shelves or interactive information panels, enhancing user engagement and creating a dynamic, immersive experience.
By merging functionality with symbolism, the Pop-Up House fosters a deeper connection between visitors and the organisation's purpose. More than just a retail fixture, it becomes a storytelling tool, inviting people to engage with Half the Story's mission on a personal level. Through this design, the organisation leaves a lasting impression, raising awareness while supporting sustainable employment opportunities for those in need.
