Daniel Davies
A final-year furniture and product design student who values a process/material led approach to design. I refine every project and embed circular principles throughout the entire lifecycle. Guided by eye-catching aesthetics, I strive for clean, minimalic designs that elevate and transform the spaces they inhabit.
ReCast

ReCast promotes the use of secondary aluminium, offering a sustainable alternative that requires just 5% of the energy and produces 95% fewer emissions compared to primary production - where each tonne of virgin metal generates 16 tonnes of CO? while devastating landscapes through bauxite mining. ReCast utilises the potential of recycled aluminium through the traditional sand casting process, resulting in a cohesive collection of door ornaments - including a handle, knocker, doorstop, and hook. Where conventional casting treats sprues as waste, ReCast intentionally highlights the process in each design. By transforming scrap metal into functional, minimalist objects, each product retains the raw, tactile qualities of cast metal, celebrating imperfections as a mark of its honest, process-led craftsmanship.
ReCast demonstrates how circular design can unite durability, utility, and environmental responsibility - proving that even everyday objects can embody a story of renewal.
Hem

Hem is a bench-and-stool system that turns thin sheet steel into warm, inviting furniture. Each seat is laser-cut from 1.2 mm mild steel, then precision-folded so every edge hems back onto itself, creating rounded profiles that feel soft to touch. Five sub-assemblies are constructed using a mix of pop rivets, bolts and spot-welds, allowing tool-light assembly, disassembly and part replacement while minimising shipping volume. A weather resistant powder-coat finish makes Hem perfect for indoor and outdoor settings. Lightweight, colourful and inherently repairable, Hem embodies playful aesthetics, functional durability and circular-economy responsibility for modern communal spaces.
