BA (Hons) Product Design
Having worked on a range of projects in product, furniture and graphic design, I have grown to be a versatile designer with a broad skill set. I find great fulfilment in creating functional, meaningful outcomes that enhance the life of the user.
Natturoam takes inspiration from the Norwegian lifestyle of Friluftsliv which roughly translates to 'outdoor living' and is widely practiced across Scandinavia. It is known for its positive impact on mental wellbeing. With the rise in mental health cases amongst young adults following the pandemic, Naturroam provides the equipment and know-how for beginners to learn basic outdoors skills. This is with the aim to encourage use of Friluftsliv here in the UK. Learning new skills like fire lighting or cooking boosts self esteem and confidence, alongside the natural psychological benefits provided by being in an outdoors environment.
Roru is an armchair designed for those suffering from arthritis. It was clear when talking to those who struggle everyday with the condition, that they often feel embarrassed by the current equipment in their homes making it 'feel like a hospital'. Roru combines the functionality of assistive seating with a Japanese minimalist aesthetic. This is with the aim to move away from the industrial look commonly associated with assistive furniture, filling the user with confidence and pride in their home. Enlarged arms provide support when standing, while a rocking motion increases blood flow of the user while seated, reducing symptoms.
