BA (Hons) Product Design
Thomas Green
I am a keen problem solver with a creative mind, I chose to pursue a career in Product Design to develop both my artistic and technical skills. I enjoy experimenting with different materials and aesthetics, and thinking outside the box of what a product's function can be.
AirOmis
AirOmis is a collapsible, portable mini airing cupboard suitable for camping, road trips and other outdoor activities. AirOmis can store 2 pairs of shoes and hang multiple pairs of socks, gloves or other small items at a time. It can run from a 12V car battery and will dry items in only a few hours. I wanted to design a product for camping as a keen outdoor enthuisiast who is sometimes put off by the typical, wet british weather. AirOmis offers a solution to any outdoorsman with a vehicle to dry his footwear, ready for another day of hiking, exploring, and appreciating the great outdoors.
Speculo
Speculo is a mirror and phone dock designed to keep the user off their phone at night time, and interacts with the alarm clock to illuminate the users bedroom in the morning. It also plays an extra loud alarm encouraging the user to get out of bed and walk over to Speculo to turn off the alarm. It makes use of bright LEDs to replicate sunrise in the morning, and a loudspeaker which amplifies the typical phone alarm that is very easy to turn off and go back to sleep. This product challenges typical morning routines for those who scroll all night on their phone, and struggle to get out of bed in the morning when their alarm turns on.
