My design style revolves around others. I prioritise empathy and inclusivity, crafting solutions that resonate with all, ensuring every user feels considered and valued in the experiences I create.
UNITE
My initial idea was to design a product for the elderly living within care homes. Having Two grandparents living in this environment, I am aware of the challenges that moving to a new home can bring. A serious problem facing care homes today is the feeling of loneliness, so I embarked on a journey to design a service that facilitated intergenerational relationships in the hopes of getting the elderly residents talking to people of all ages outside the care home.
This led to the design of my company, UNITE. However, throughout the project, UNITE evolved into something more than anticipated. Through research, I realised that the coming together of people from different generations could solve a larger issue at hand. The stereotypes and prejudices we have of others are assumptions and they fail tell us who people are underneath.
UNITE designs and runs workshops that uses clay modelling, drawing and most importantly communication to find commonalities between people in the hopes of breaking down prejudices and getting people to know what's underneath, rather than only what they see on the surface. UNITE can also diversify and run workshops for schools, businesses addressing other social issues relating to gender, racial stereotypes and disabilities.
