As a technical designer, I'm passionate about creating products with a purpose to help people, whether in healthcare, fitness or sustainable sectors. With a keen interest in new technology, specifically AI's impact on design, I'm excited to contribute to the future of this ever-evolving industry.
Frontero Technologies
Diabetes is now the 6th leading cause of death in first-world countries, with the NHS spending £10 billion annually on Diabetes care. 52% of those with Diabetes also have some form of arthritis (currently over 10 million cases in the UK alone) and for these patients it is necessary for district nurses to make up to four visits per day to aid in insulin administration.
Frontero Technologies addresses this issue, revolutionising the way district nurses operate with a weekly dosette-box style system that reduces nurses required visits from up to 28 per week to just 1. Coupled with an insulin pen pump, designed around the FlexTouch pen, specifically designed for those with arthritis, patients are finally able to independently and safely administer their own insulin.
ApoKinetic
Despite the rise in popularity across the UK, with over 8.34 million Britons now gym members, due to a lack of regulations, insufficient lighting outside of gyms continues to raise safety concerns, leaving members feeling apprehensive and vulnerable about visiting.
Inspired by these concerns and observing similar issues at my own gym, Apokinetic integrates an innovative solution that harnesses energy generated from the most popular machines in the gym, ?weighted stack machines?. ApoKinetic is a compact, industrial style product that sits on top of the machines and takes kinetic energy generated during workouts and converts it into sustainable power, which is then stored in a rechargeable battery inside the product. Batteries are then collected from various machines and are then deployed by gym staff in outdoor lighting systems, illuminating public spaces, promoting sustainability habits and making the gym an all-round safer place.
