I’m a designer who’s really interested in creating products that have both purpose and meaning, while also being visually appealing. I’m especially drawn to furniture design, where there’s a balance between solving problems and creating something that people are naturally drawn to.
I enjoy designing modern furniture that feels clean and considered, but still has enough character to stand out. My interest in this area really developed during my placement year, where I discovered how much I enjoyed working within the furniture industry and being involved in the full design process.
I’ve been working at ob&b, a British furniture manufacturer, for over two years, which has helped me build both my confidence and skill set. Through this, I’ve developed strong abilities in technical drawing and rendering, allowing me to clearly communicate ideas and bring both my own concepts and client visions to life.
Working within an established brand has also taught me how to design to a specific style, keeping products consistent across a range while still finding ways to add my own input. I’ve found this balance really valuable, as it’s pushed me to be creative within real-world constraints.
Going forward, I’d like to continue working in the furniture industry and keep developing as a designer, creating work that is both functional and visually engaging.
ComfortCore Range
The ComfortCore Range is a child-centred furniture and emotional support system designed to help young children understand and manage their emotions while keeping classrooms modern, calm, and organised. The range includes a ribbed stool, bench, and table, all featuring integrated storage that discreetly houses emotion-based cushions. Each cushion is represented by an animal to support different emotional needs:
- Lion (Anger): Memory foam stress cushion for releasing frustration
- Elephant (Sadness): Weighted and smooth for comfort and reassurance
- Penguin (Affection): Arm-loop pocket for a secure, comforting hug
- Monkey (Playfulness): Puppet mouth to encourage laughter and interaction
- Dog (Happiness): Activities and compliments to promote positivity
- Mouse (Worry): Pocket for drawing or writing worries to feel relieved
By combining emotional learning with practical storage and contemporary design, the ComfortCore Range supports early emotional development while keeping learning spaces tidy and welcoming
